When you come to MacKechnie House,
bring your appetite along. The food certainly reflects
that your host, Cathryn Thompson, is also a professional
Caterer. Breakfasts are delicious and varied. Starters
could be Creme Caramel with Strawberries, a tall tower
of Amaretto-basted Baked Apples, or Rhubarb Crumble with
Creme Fraiche. The next course might be French Eggs in a
Dijon Sauce, Ham with Apricot Mustard and a Medley of
Sauteed Mushrooms. On another day, sit down to Scrambled
Eggs with Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Homemade Sweet and
Hot Pepper Jelly, Brown Sugar Roasted Peameal Bacon and
Home Fries with Fresh Herbs. To conclude, the gourmet
fresh coffee is sure to satisfy the most discerning of
coffee drinkers!
Breakfast is served in the formal
dining room. Painted a stunning Georgian red, it is a showcase
for the floor-to-ceiling bookcases, still in their original faux
mahogany finish. During summer months, feel free to retire
to our front verandah for your after- breakfast coffee.
We encourage guests to enjoy our gardens which stretch over
3/4 of an acre and showcase antique roses, an herb garden and native
North American flowers. Benches and chairs have been placed
throughout the grounds for your comfort and enjoyment.
